About Gold's Gym UK
Gold's Gym UK runs four Gold's Gym clubs in London: Harrow, Hanwell, Hounslow and Dagenham. The name goes back to 1965, when Joe Gold opened a gym in Venice, California, that bodybuilders came to call the Mecca. The London clubs are run by Gold's Gym (UK) Limited.
1965, Venice Beach.
Joe Gold built the first Gold's Gym in Venice, California, in 1965. In the 1970s Arnold Schwarzenegger trained there, and Pumping Iron, the 1977 documentary filmed on its floor, made a bodybuilding gym famous with people who had never lifted.
That one room grew into more than 600 Gold's Gyms around the world. Four of them are in London.

The cinema in Harrow.
The Granada on Sheepcote Road opened on 25 October 1937 and showed films until 1996. After eight empty years, Gold's Gym moved in.
The domed ceiling, the chandelier and the gilded grilles stayed, and so did the cinema's Wurlitzer organ, behind glass at the side of the gym floor. It's the only Gold's we know of where you can bench press next to a theatre organ.
Gold's Gym HarrowFollow-up.
Ask the UK clubs what makes Gold's different and the list includes atmosphere, staff and service. The one that matters most is follow-up: what most clubs won't do after they have your money.
So every new member gets a programme from a fitness instructor, a review every 3 to 4 months, and a re-assessment whenever they ask for one. Personal trainers are there for anyone who wants someone beside them every session.
Personal trainingKnow your own strength.
Know Your Own Strength® is Gold's Gym UK's registered trademark line. In the clubs' own words, strength comes in many forms: the strength to be a better athlete, or to be a better parent.
