A gym in a 1937 cinema.
The Granada on Sheepcote Road opened on 25 October 1937. It showed films until 1996, stood empty for eight years, and then Gold's Gym moved in.
Plenty of the cinema stayed. The cardio balcony runs under the original domed ceiling and chandelier, gilded grilles line the walls, and the Granada's Wurlitzer organ is still there, behind glass, a few steps from the weight benches.
