Membership questions

Joining, ID, freezing, cancelling, classes and opening hours at Gold's Gym UK. The short version: no joining fee, bring photo ID and proof of address, freeze for £25, and cancel with 30 days' written notice once your minimum term is done. Joining

How do I join Gold's Gym?

Pick your club, then call or email the club or walk in. The membership team goes through the options with you and sets you up. Members must be 18 or over.

Is there a joining fee?

No. There's no joining fee at any Gold's Gym UK club. See prices for what each plan costs.

What do I need to join?

Photo ID: passport, driving licence or national identity card. And proof of address dated in the last 3 months, such as a council tax bill or a gas, electric, landline or internet bill. You can email both to your club's membership address before you go in.

Can I pay up front instead of monthly?

Yes. As well as 12-month and 6-month contracts paid by Direct Debit, you can pay once for 6 weeks, 3 months or a year. The annual payment covers 16 months: 12 months plus 4 free. Prices are set by each club.

Your membership

Can I freeze my membership?

Yes, for any reason. A freeze lasts from 1 to 3 months and costs a £25 admin fee. Give one full payment's notice and email your club to set it up.

How do I cancel my membership?

Once your minimum term is done, give 30 days' written notice (one full payment) from your next Direct Debit date.

Inside the minimum term, we can only cancel for one of these reasons, with proof:

  • Illness or injury that stops you exercising for 3 months or more. You need a note or letter from a doctor or other qualified medical professional that says so.
  • Moving away to a permanent address more than 8 miles from all of our clubs, shown on a utility bill dated in the last 3 months. UK addresses only, and only after your first 3 months. University accommodation doesn't count, and nor does a visa that ends inside the minimum term. If you move within 8 miles of another Gold's club, your membership transfers there instead.
  • Redundancy or other loss of livelihood, with proof from your employer. Resigning, or a work contract that ends inside the minimum term, doesn't count.
  • Pregnancy, with written proof.

In every case we need 30 days' written notice from your next Direct Debit date.

What if I lose my membership card?

Show your card at reception every time you visit. If you lose it, the club replaces it, at your cost.

Do you have a refer-a-friend scheme?

If you introduce a friend while your membership is current, you may get a referral gift. Forms are at reception when a referral promotion is running. Introductions made after your friend has joined may not count.

Training

What's the difference between a fitness instructor and a personal trainer?

Your fitness instructor builds your programme when you join and updates it whenever you're ready for a change. We suggest every 3 to 4 months. A personal trainer works with you one to one in every session, watching your technique and adjusting the plan as you go.

How often should I work out?

There's no single answer. When you join, a qualified instructor writes a programme around your current fitness and your goals, and that sets how often and how long you train.

Classes

Are classes free?

GGX classes are included with membership at Harrow, Hanwell and Hounslow: over 30 a week, depending on the club. The odd paid class runs too, and it's marked on the timetable. Dagenham doesn't run GGX classes.

How do I book a class?

Log in to the member area (opens in a new tab), choose your club and book. Every class has to be booked online.

Can I use the pool or studios while a class is on?

No. The studios and the pool are closed to members while classes are running in them.

Clubs and opening hours

What are the opening hours?

All four clubs open 6:30am to 10:30pm, Monday to Friday. At weekends Harrow, Hanwell and Hounslow open 7am to 9pm, and Dagenham 7am to 7pm. Last entry is 1 hour before closing, and facilities close 30 minutes before closing time.

Are you open on bank holidays?

Hours change on bank holidays. Check the signs in your club or call before you go.

Which clubs have a swimming pool?

All four: Harrow, Hanwell, Hounslow and Dagenham. Hanwell and Dagenham also have a sauna and a hot tub. See facilities for each club.

Where are the clubs?
Harrow: 1 Manor Parade, Sheepcote Road, HA1 2JN. Hanwell: 54-62 Uxbridge Road, W7 3SU. Hounslow: 29-31 Lampton Road, TW3 1JA. Dagenham: Sterling Industrial Estate, Rainham Road South, RM10 8TX.

Refunds

Am I due a joining fee refund?
